Annual Meeting/ Dinner - Nathan Monk
Nathan Monk is social justice advocate, author, and former Orthodox priest. He lives in Pensacola, FL with his three children. He is the author of Chasing the Mouse, a memoir about childhood homelessness, and works with non-profits and local governments to address issues associated with homelessness, poverty, and social justice.
Having experienced homelessness with his family during his teenage years, Nathan has gone on to found numerous programs providing food, clothing, emergency resources, and shelter. After nearly a decade of pastoral ministry, he worked for the Studer Family as a consultant in the nonprofit sector. Over the years he has worked with business professionals and government officials to help bring success to their philanthropic work.
Currently, Nathan is the executive director of Community Solutions of the Emerald Coast. He is also the founder of the Charity Institute, a consulting firm assisting nonprofits. He serves as a board member of the Homelessness and Housing Alliance and the Planning Board of the City of Pensacola. Over his career, he has received notable awards, appointments, and national media for his accomplishments in the area of social justice.
Nathan is also an active public speaker and author. Through writing and speaking, Nathan seeks to educate the public and break down stereotypes in our culture about people experiencing poverty and homelessness. His expanded educational programs and consulting work help create nonprofit cultures that are truly client-oriented. With a focus on outcomes over outreach, we can end homelessness.
